Hi everyone! I’m Sarah (セーラ), a third (soon to be fourth) year student at University of Calgary studying Computer Science. I was born in Calgary, and have lived my entire life in Alberta. I have many interests, including reading, programming, and cooking (although I’m not that talented. ^^;). My favourite authors are Haruki Murakami, Neal Stephenson, and William Gibson. I particularly like “The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles,” “Diamond Age,” and “Neuromancer.” I want to learn Japanese well enough to be able to read Murakami’s works in their original language. I really like cats, but I’m unfortunately allergic. Despite this, I would still like to own a cat some day, and plan to visit a cat cafe while in Japan.
Like many students in this program, my first exposure to Japanese culture was at a young age, watching English dubs of shows such as “Dragon Ball” and “Sailor Moon.” About ten years ago I was first exposed to Japanese idol music, when a friend introduced me to hello!project. I am a fan of many hello!project groups, such as Morning Musume, Berryz工房, and particularly buono!. Since I have been a fan for such a long time, and studying Japanese for almost as long, I have a lot of knowledge about the idol otaku community that I hope to introduce to everyone!

In Japan I would like to visit many food places, Akihabara, Disneyland and Asakusa. Asakusa is a district in Tokyo known for its historical architecture and the 千光寺 (Senkou-ji) temple. I also want to do a lot of shopping, and spend time with my classmates and any friends I’m able to make.
以上です!
